- Křivoklát Castle — A proper medieval castle sitting like a crown on a wooded hill. It’s the cultural anchor of the landscape area: photogenic stonework, compact museum rooms, and good trails radiating from the castle into the surrounding forest so you can switch easily between history and nature in one day.
- Berounka River valley — Meandering river corridors, low cliffs and wide gravel banks make this the go-to for easy riverside hikes, swimming spots, and paddling. Expect kingfishers, waterfowl and the occasional traces of otters; when the light hits the bends of the river it’s pure postcard territory (my personal favorite — great for lazy days and wildlife watching).

- Skryje fossil outcrops — Exposed rock layers and small cliffs around the village of Skryje are famous for fossils and local geology; there’s a small local collection/interpretation and rugged trails that let you see the stone strata up close. Good mix of geology and compact scenery.
- Pond systems and wetlands (Padrťské rybníky and similar) — A network of small ponds and marshy meadows that are excellent for birdwatching, amphibians and quiet photography. Handy in spring and early summer for frogs, dragonflies and migrating waterbirds.
- Secluded valleys and lookout ridges — The park is full of short but steep side valleys that open onto little viewpoints and rocky ledges. You don’t need to climb a mountain to get a rewarded view — just pick any of the marked trails leading off the main paths and you’ll find quiet panoramas and good sunset spots.
- Spring meadows and orchid glades — Certain meadows and riverside clearings burst into color in April-June with wildflowers and orchids; great for butterfly spotting and a change of pace from the dense forest walks. Best visited on a warm, breezy morning.
