Savonlinna’s charm lies in its medieval castle, Olavinlinna, rising majestically over the lake. Picture the sun setting, casting golden hues on the water while you sip local berry juice. But here’s the catch: the town can feel quiet, especially off-peak. If you’re craving nightlife or bustling cafes, you might find it a bit too serene. Embrace the stillness, though; it’s a perfect backdrop for reflection and connection with nature.

Due to playing floorball, a sport which is large in Finland (called innebandy), I have visited Finland a couple of times between 1999 and 2007.
