In Agra, the city of the Taj Mahal, we checked into a hostel less than five hundred meters from the Taj Mahal. At least, that was our goal, but the person who was supposed to check us in was in a coma. The cleaner tapped his shoulder, shouted, screamed, shook him, and eventually kicked him, but the man remained in a coma. A little later, someone else who could stand on his own two feet but was definitely still drunk (9 am in the morning) came. There were five of us, and there was an empty dormitory with five beds. Even in his state, that puzzle could be solved with some thinking.
After a day trip in the area, however, someone was sleeping in our dorm. The man who checked us in didn‘t recognize us anymore. But after our brief explanation, he quickly woke the man up and led him to another room. The staff was drunk and stoned 24/7 and had no idea which beds were free or occupied and how many reservations there were. He laughed and said he had never logged into Hostelworld, where all the reservations came in.
