Most people picture St. Aubin as just “the pretty harbour you drive past from the airport to St. Helier.” That’s wrong in a useful way: it’s quieter than the capital, but it’s not a dead postcard. St. Aubin sits on Jersey’s south coast, wrapped around a tidal harbour at the western end of St. Aubin’s Bay, a short bus ride from St. Helier.

For backpackers, it’s more of a soft-landing base than a headline destination. Cobbled lanes, salty air, and low stone houses give it character, but nightlife is mostly clinking cutlery and pub chatter, not bar crawls. Buses along the south and west coasts make it an easy hub for beach walks, the Railway Walk trail, and day trips to St. Brelade’s Bay or Corbière.
