By chance, I met the German guy on horseback, and together we tried to learn a new card game from a boy who understandably didn’t say anything since we only responded with words that had nothing to do with Kyrgyz. So, based on how he played and whether he approved or disapproved of our actions, we tried to decipher the underlying rules. But since he turned out to be cheating as well, it became an impossible challenge. That same evening, we received a summary of Kyrgyz medicines. Mosquito bites? Dab them with vodka. Diarrhea? Drink vodka with salt. Fever? Rub your whole body with vodka.
