- Kara-Shoro Canyon — a compact, dramatic gorge carved by the river; narrow walls, boulder-hopped trails and cool shade make it an excellent half-day hike and great for photos without needing technical gear.
- High Alpine Lakes — a handful of small, clear glacial-fed lakes tucked into a cirque above the valley; you’ll get turquoise water, scree approaches and wildflower meadows in late June-August.
- Upper-Valley Waterfalls — several short cascades and plunge pools along tributary streams; perfect for a picnic stop and for cooling off on a hot day, accessible from basic footpaths.
- Alpine Meadows and Summer Pastures (jailoo) — rolling flower-strewn meadows used by shepherds in summer, with low-density trails and seasonal yurts; great for easy walking and people-watching with real mountain life.

- Birds of Prey Watchpoints — open ridgelines and cliffs where you can often spot eagles, falcons and other raptors riding the thermals; bring binoculars and a patient eye early or late in the day.
- Marmots and Mountain Mammals — marmots are common and conspicuous; keep an eye higher up for wild goats or sheep-like species at a distance — good wildlife without having to go off-trail.
- Yurt Camps and Sunset Ridges — simple family-run yurt stays on the ridges, easy evening hikes for sunset views over the valley and a real taste of local hospitality (personal favorite) — low-cost, relaxed and memorable.
