- Ala-Kul Lake — A high-alpine turquoise bowl sitting under serrated ridges; the color is unreal and the final push to the lake gives that “worth every step” payoff. It’s a proper overnight trek if you want starry skies and a silent glacier basin.
- Altyn Arashan Valley and Hot Springs — Wooded valley with steaming sulfur pools, rustic guest huts and nomad camps. After a muddy hike there’s nothing like soaking in hot water while snow-dusted peaks watch you — personal favorite because it’s equal parts wilderness and simple comfort.
- Grigoriev Lakes — A string of emerald alpine lakes, easy to use as a base for crossing passes or for low-impact camping. Fewer people than Ala-Kul, great light for photos and good jump-off point for ridge walks.

- Karakol Glacier & Peaks — Sharp summits and hanging glaciers that dominate the skyline; not for casual strolls but spectacular for mountaineers, glacier views and dramatic moraine scenery even from safe valley viewpoints.
- Wildlife watching (ibex, marmots, birds of prey) — The park is prime habitat for Siberian ibex, chattering marmots and golden eagles. Snow leopards are present in the range but extremely rare; still, the whole area feels like proper big-mountain wildlife country.
- Alpine meadows and summer jailoos — Lush wildflower meadows and seasonal pastures where shepherds range horses and flocks. Great for easy wandering, staying in yurts, and seeing traditional mountain life up close.
- Terskey Ala-Too ridgelines and passes — Long ridges that give sweeping views over Issyk-Kul and the valleys below. Plenty of day-hikes and multi-day circuits; perfect if you want panoramic lines without technical climbing.
