Robertsport Beach has a lagoon behind it: Lake Piso, the largest lake in Liberia, lies just inland of the surf, so you can swim in calm water at the back and ride waves at the front. The beach sits in the northwest of Liberia, in Grand Cape Mount County, a long, rough drive from Monrovia. That road keeps crowds thin. You may share a break with a handful of local surfers and nobody else. The sand is dark gold, the water is warm, and the air smells of woodsmoke and drying fish. Trash collects near the town edge, and the swell can bring strong rips, so swim with care. Dive and snorkel potential is poor. Rooms are basic and pricey for what they are, with only a few guesthouses and lodges. Cheap food comes from women grilling fish and cooking cassava leaf and rice at roadside stalls. On a first day, you could walk the beach at low tide, eat a plate of rice at a stall, then watch the sky go orange from the point.
