There we left our Pajeero for a few days rest and a technician could hopefully do some healing wonders. In that time, we got a new car, unfortunately with driver so we had to change our role into passenger, to continue our way to Tsingy National Park. We were warned that in this area there were armed robberies once in a while, so we should drive in a convoy. We had lined up in a village with a bunch of other 4WD’s, waiting for the police car to lead the convoy. After half an hour waiting, suddenly there was a fast passing car and apparently that was the car we had been waiting for.
Everybody quickly jumped into the car and started the pursuit, but to no avail. The police car was too fast and not possible to catch up with. So, we drove the whole part basically with a bunch of other unknown cars. And to make matters worse, our driver got ill, so he had to stop for some time. There we were: two of us, with no police, no convoy, not even our guide, in middle of bandit county.
But also this one we survived. The next day was better organised (at least for us), as we got the military guy to protect the convoy in our very own car. We were safe! Our driver however drove away so fast that the rest of the convoy couldn’t follow and for them it was again each for themselves.
Traveled route: Antanarivo, Antsirabe, Ranomafana, Fianarantsoa, Andrambovato, Parc d'Anja, Parc National d'Andringitra, Isalo National Park, Toilara, Anakao, Ifaty, Mangily, Salary Avaratra, Ambohitsabo, Andavadoaka, Morombe, Manja, Belo sur Mer, Morondava, Allée des Baobabs, Relais du Kirindy, Belo-Tsiribihina, Tsingy de Bemaraha
