Most guides sell Cap d’Ail Coastal Path as a lazy seaside stroll; in reality, if you walk the full stretch and link it into Monaco, it turns into a sweaty, stair-heavy workout that will have your calves talking. The path hugs the coast just west of Monaco, effectively forming the rough-and-tumble shoreline approach into the principality from Cap d’Ail, skirting below the fancy apartments and train line. You get rock-cut walkways, wave spray, and sudden pockets of sand and stone beaches, all on a mostly flat, easy-to-follow track, but the access points often mean steep stair climbs that feel far from “casual.” It’s short enough for beginners, but fast walkers can turn it into a tempo run, and it’s far easier to reach by train and bus than many inland trails.
