Everyone seems convinced Falkenberg beach is some secret Bali-level paradise where you’ll have the sand to yourself. You won’t. This is Sweden’s west coast, not a private island. Falkenberg beach sits in Halland, on the Kattegat coast between Gothenburg and Malmö, and it’s very much on the local radar.

For backpackers, it’s a solid, good-value stop: long, pale sand, generally clean, shallow water that’s great for swimming but too tame for serious surf, and a relaxed, family-heavy vibe that leans more “picnic and frisbee” than “beach party.” It gets busy on sunny weekends, but you can usually walk a bit and find space. No real snorkeling or diving payoff; the water’s more murky than magical. Access is easy by train and bus, with decent budget cabins, campsites, and cheap grills and kiosks nearby.
