People come for the photo: about 300 m of road where bamboo culms arch overhead until the whole stretch resembles a green nave, with light falling through in thin slats. What gets overlooked is the wildlife. Howler and capuchin monkeys work the canopy here, so your neck gets as much exercise as your camera finger. Bamboo Cathedral sits off Tucker Valley Road in Chaguaramas, northwest of Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago. Cars are barred, so the walk is flat and easy, there is no ticket booth, and there is also no café, which makes your snack plan your own problem. Crowds stay thin and the stroll is short, a rare case of free being fair.
