- Conch Bar Caves — A proper showstopper: one of the largest cave systems in the Caribbean, full of dramatic stalactites and cavern rooms. Walking inside you get cool, eerie silence, colonies of bats, and hints of Lucayan-era artifacts — very different from the usual beachfront hike.
- Flamingo Pond & salt-pond wetlands — A top spot for birdlife. Seasonal flamingos, herons and hundreds of shorebirds feed here on the shallow flats, so you get wildlife viewing without a boat. - Limestone karst ridges and lookouts — The trail weaves over jagged limestone outcrops and shallow sink holes, offering panoramic views across the shallow turquoise sea and neighboring cays. Those wide, low-island vistas feel very different from forested mountain trails — big sky, big water, and a real sense of openness.
- Old plantation ruins (stone walls & cisterns) — Scattered along the route are the skeletal remains of old plantations: crumbling stone walls, cisterns and pathways. They’re quiet, photogenic reminders of the island’s human history and make the hike part nature walk, part low-key archaeology lesson.
- Secluded sand spits and shallow snorkeling coves — Small, empty beaches and sand spits break the landscape, perfect for a lazy swim or snorkel among seagrass beds and coral heads. You’ll often have these spots to yourself — ideal if you want a peaceful break away from the busier tourist beaches.
