- Wildlife and alpine flora — Raptors ride the thermals above the canyon and the meadows hold mountain wildflowers and grasses in season. It’s an underrated spot for low-key wildlife watching — pack binoculars and keep voices down.
- Quiet viewpoints and photography angles — The rim trails and scattered ledges give dramatic vantage points for sunrise, sunset or moody weather shots. It’s easy to find a frame that looks like you’ve got the whole canyon to yourself (often true, too).
- Off-grid, rugged atmosphere — There are few facilities and mobile signal is patchy, so the place rewards self-sufficiency: good map, snacks, warm layer, and leave-no-trace habits. That roughness is part of the appeal — it still feels wild.
