- Sljeme summit and RTV tower (1,035 m) — The obvious highlight: a compact summit with a TV tower and sweeping panoramas over Zagreb, the Sava valley and, on very clear days, the distant mountains and Adriatic haze. Great for sunrise or late-afternoon light, and easy to reach on foot from several trailheads.
- Medvedgrad Fortress — A partially-ruined 13th-century hill castle tucked into the ridge. It’s small but atmospheric, with stone walls and viewpoints that feel properly medieval. Gives the hike a tangible cultural layer you won’t get on many urban-adjacent trails.

- Old beech-and-fir forest — The trail threads through dense, well-shaded woodland that changes with the seasons: lush green in spring, riotous color in autumn. The feeling of deep forest so close to a capital city is rare and quietly spectacular.
- Ski slopes and summit huts — Open clearings carved for skiing break up the trees and create panoramic viewing spots; in summer you’ll also find simple mountain huts and a café near the top where you can grab a cheap snack and a coffee. It’s a handy, low-cost comfort after a steep climb.
- Close-up wildlife and birdwatching — Roe deer, foxes, owls and a surprising variety of songbirds are common if you go early or late. The trail’s proximity to Zagreb makes these encounters feel unexpectedly wild — you can be among boars and birds one hour, back in the city the next.
