Your boots crunch on pale limestone, cicadas drilling the air while salt spray drifts up from the cliffs and stings your sunburned shins. Below, the water is so clear you can count rocks ten meters down, and somewhere behind you a quad bike whines along the road. This is Cavo Greco National Park, on the southeastern tip of Cyprus between Ayia Napa and Protaras, and for backpackers it’s both easy win and mild letdown. Trails are short, mostly coastal rambles and scrubby inland paths, with sea caves, arches, and low cliffs rather than big-mountain drama; wildlife is mostly birds, lizards, and hardy shrubs. Access is simple, buses and roads run right to it, there’s no entrance fee, but also no wild camping and very limited true budget stays inside the park, so you base in nearby beach towns.
