It’s compact, easy to reach from Monodendri and, honestly, my personal favorite for sunrise or late-afternoon light. - Walk the Vikos Gorge floor
Hike down into the canyon to feel its scale — not a quick photo-op but full immersion: towering rock walls, rare alpine plants, tiny waterfalls and improbably quiet pools. Walking the floor (proper footwear recommended) is a different Zagori from the viewpoints — raw and real. - Voidomatis River & Aristi stretch
The water here is absurdly clear and cold; paddling or taking a slow raft trip through the Voidomatis gorge

Two mountain villages clinging to the edge of the Tymfi massif — stone houses, narrow alleys, guesthouses run by families. They’re the classic base for alpine hikes (and the last hotspots for a proper village coffee or pastry before the wild stuff). - Drakolimni (Dragon Lake) of Astraka
A high-altitude alpine lake above Papigo reached by a full-day hike. The scenery — rocky cirques, wind-polished boulders and a clear, chilly tarn with a local ”dragon” legend — feels like nowhere else in Greece. - The stone bridges of Zagori (bridge-hopping routes)
Zagori is threaded with hand-built 18th-19th-century single-arch bridges. They’re not just pretty photos — they were economic lifelines linking villages. Walk a bridge route (pick any 2-3 nearby) and you’ll pass old cobbled tracks, chestnut trees and real local rhythm. - Vradeto Steps (Skala of Vradetou)
Hidden-gem alert: a dramatic old stone stairway carved into the slope that once connected Vradeto to the rest of Zagori. It’s steep, photogenic and quietly epic — fewer tourists, big views, and a strong sense of history underfoot. - Dilofo village
A tiny, impeccably preserved stone village with perfectly proportioned houses and a calm village square. It’s one of those places locals linger longer in — ideal for slow photography, a short walk on quiet lanes, and catching a sunset without crowds. - Kapesovo village and its terraces
Kapesovo sits on a sunny ridge with dramatic terraces and stone-built cemeteries that frame the valley. Locals point to the view and old wells, but few travelers stay long; it’s a great stop for an authentic stroll and a quiet lookout over the landscape. - Vitsa and the nearby bridge-and-trail network
Vitsa is a lively Zagori village that feels genuine rather than staged — stone houses, narrow lanes and direct access to several classic trails (including routes into Vikos and toward Papigo). Use it as a practical, pleasant hub if you want to chain hikes without losing village life.
