- Bobak marmots, foxes and other steppe mammals: You’ll find classic steppe mammals — bobak marmots popping up from burrows, foxes at dawn/dusk, and lots of smaller rodents and passerines. Mammal watching is low-key but rewarding if you move slowly.
- Simple trails, hides and observation towers: The reserve has a handful of marked walks, boardwalks and bird hides that make wildlife viewing easy even for short visits — ideal for day hikes that end with a long sit and watch.
- Dark skies and remote camping vibes: Far from city lights, Naurzum is fantastic for stargazing; the silence at night and the sheer scale of the sky is one of those unexpected pleasures after a day hiking or birding.
