- Alpine meadows and wildflowers — In summer the lower slopes turn colourful with flowers and buzzing insects; great for easy, scenic walks, picnics and spotting marmots popping in and out of burrows.
- Wildlife and birds — Marmots, mountain goats/ibex and a range of raptors (including the occasional golden eagle) are common sights if you move quietly. Not a safari, but pleasant wildlife encounters are part of the park’s charm.
- Classic day and multi-day trails — Trails range from short, flat walks to steep approaches that lead into high valleys and base camps; the variety means you can do a relaxed day hike or push for multi-day alpine routes without leaving the park.
- Personal favorite:Ak-Sai Glacier and moraine — the close-up ice, silent blue crevasses and the way the valley narrows around the glacier make it feel properly wild; short hike, huge payoff.
