- Desert wildlife viewing — look for dorcas gazelle, fennec foxes, and a variety of lizards and small mammals, mostly early morning or late evening. Tracks in the sand tell stories if you slow down and follow them.
- Seasonal salt pans and coastal lagoons — when filled, these shallow flats attract waders and migrant shorebirds; watch for flocks, feeding lines and raptors cruising the shoreline during migration seasons.
- Ridge loop and wadi hiking routes — a few established loops take you from low dunes up onto ridgelines and down into shaded wadis. Expect varied terrain, panoramic viewpoints and quiet campsites; start early, carry plenty of water and a map/GPS, and use a 4x4 or local guide to reach some trailheads.
