- Avenida Revolución — The classic heartbeat of downtown: neon signs, souvenir stalls, old cantinas, street performers and the kind of chaotic energy that tells you instantly you’re in Tijuana. Great for people-watching, cheap eats and late-night bar hopping.
- Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT) — The giant silver sphere (”La Bola”) is Tijuana’s cultural flagship: rotating art shows, the Museo de las Californias, an IMAX and regular performances. It’s where the city’s arts scene puts on its best face.
- Plaza Santa Cecilia — One of the oldest plazas in town, full of live music, street vendors and old-school cantinas. Visit in the evening for mariachi and a more local, less-touristy vibe than the main strip.

- El Trompo, Museo Interactivo Tijuana — Hands-on science and tech museum that’s actually fun for adults, not just kids. Good way to see family life in the city and to escape heat or a rainy day.
- Estadio Caliente (Xolos) — Even if you’re not a soccer fan, a match here is a raw, loud, local experience: passionate crowds, chants, street food outside and a real pulse of modern Tijuana culture.
- Playas de Tijuana & Friendship Park — The oceanfront where the border fence meets the sea. Walk the boardwalk, watch surfers, check out border-wall art and hang out at Friendship Park where people on both sides gather. Best at sunset.
- Mercado Hidalgo — Bustling food and grocery market with fresh produce, chilies, cheeses, tortillas and tiny stands serving classic Baja dishes. Excellent for cheap, authentic bites and stocking up for budget travel.
- Pasaje Rodríguez (art alleyways) — A compact network of alleys just off the main drag loaded with murals, small galleries, vintage shops and coffee spots. Shows the city’s indie, creative side away from tourist kitsch.
- Restaurante Caesar’s (original location) — The claimed birthplace of the Caesar salad. It’s kitschy and historic — a small, photo-worthy stop for food history and a classic Tijuana meal.
- Plaza Río / Zona Río — The modern commercial heart: big mall, eateries, public art and people out doing everyday city life. Handy for practical needs, craft beer stops and catching contemporary Tijuana energy beyond the tourist strip.
