- Crno Jezero (Black Lake) — A mirror-calm glacial lake tucked under spruce forest just outside Žabljak. Walk the easy loop in under an hour for perfect reflections, wildflowers in summer, and an instant sense of why Durmitor feels alpine despite being in the Balkans.
- Bobotov Kuk — The massif’s highest summit (about 2,523 m) and the classic Durmitor climb. It’s a proper mountain day with rocky ridges and huge panoramas over karst plateaus and scattered glacial lakes — worth it if you want sweeping views and a real mountain effort.
- Tara River Canyon & Đurđevića Tara Bridge — One of Europe’s deepest canyons, cut by an impossibly clear, green river. The concrete arch bridge makes for a dramatic photo op and is the launch point for rafting trips and riverside hikes through gorge scenery you

- Durmitor Ring scenic drive — The loop road that stitches together high passes, alpine meadows, and sudden overlooks. It’s a compact, jaw-dropping route for drivers, motorcyclists and anyone who likes to pull over every five minutes for a new view.
- Glacial tarns and “eyes” of Durmitor — Beyond Black Lake there are dozens of smaller, often hidden glacial lakes (tarns) that pop up across the plateau. They’re brilliant turquoise in the right light — perfect for quiet picnics, wild swimming in summer, or chasing solitude off the main trail.
- Sušica Waterfall and canyon — A short, pleasant hike leads to a lively waterfall and a narrow canyon section; best in late spring when meltwater is strong. It’s an easy way to add variety to a day that might otherwise be all lakes and ridgelines.
- Žabljak village and mountain culture — The high-altitude hub for Durmitor: cheap guesthouses, gear rentals, and hearty mountain food. It’s also where you’ll hear local stories, hire guides for peaks or rafting, and stock up before heading into the park.
