- Golemo Ezero (the Great Lake) — A classic high-alpine glacial lake tucked into a rocky bowl; when the wind dies down the water becomes a perfect mirror of the surrounding peaks, and it’s the obvious focal point of the whole hike.
- Molika pine forest — Dense stands of ancient Balkan/Macedonian pine (molika) create otherworldly, gnarled corridors of shade; these trees are endemic to the region and give Pelister a very different feel from the beech forests you see elsewhere in the Balkans.
- Ridge panoramas with Ohrid and Prespa views — From the higher parts of the trail you can look out and pick out both Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa on clear days, a rare double-lake panorama that makes the climb worth the effort.
- Alpine meadows and summer wildflowers — Bright carpets of gentians, edelweiss relatives

- Alpine meadows and summer wildflowers — Bright carpets of gentians, edelweiss relatives and other mountain blooms color the slopes in summer; great for photography, lazy picnics, and watching butterflies drift between blooms.
- Wildlife and shepherding traces — Keep an eye out for chamois, marmots and birds of prey swooping the cirques, and you’ll often find old shepherd huts, stone terraces or grazing flocks that hint at the area’s long mountain-pastoral traditions.
