- Malika Parbat (the Queen’s Peak) — Dramatic granite face that dominates the skyline. It’s a serious climb if you’re mountaineering, but even viewing it from the lake or nearby ridges is spectacular — raw, rugged, and photogenic.
- Lalazar Plateau — Expansive alpine meadows at high elevation, full of wildflowers in summer and great for easy day hikes or cheap camping. Quiet compared with the lakeshore; perfect if you want wide views and fewer people (my personal favorite).

- Ansoo Lake (Teardrop Lake) — A uniquely shaped lake tucked into a cirque above the valley. It’s a tough day trek or overnight route from Naran/Kaghan, but the payoff is a remote, dramatic basin and one of the most distinct lake shapes you’ll see.
- Glacial moraines & cirque landscapes — Jagged moraines, meltwater streams and little turquoise tarns around the main lake create lunar, ever-changing scenery. Great for short exploration walks and landscape photography.
- Wildlife watching — Habitat for creatures like Himalayan ibex, marmots, and raptors (golden eagles, Himalayan vultures); you won’t always see big cats, but the alpine birdlife and small mammals are lively and fun to spot along trails.
- Alpine camping & stargazing — High altitude + low light pollution = incredible night skies. Camping near the lake or on Lalazar is cheap, simple, and hugely rewarding if you’re into camping and astrophotography.
