On western Leyte’s coast, it’s a transport hub with a laid-back bayfront, cheap eats, and access to Lake Danao and mountain scenery. Nightlife is low-key, other travelers are rare, and costs are low. Compared to Tacloban, Ormoc feels calmer, more local, and less polished—but also safer and easier to just wander without a plan.
