- Wyspa Młyńska (Mill Island) — The heart of Bydgoszcz’s riverside charm: restored granaries, narrow canals, pedestrian bridges and cafes. Great for photos, a lazy walk, and to feel why locals call parts of the city “Polish Venice.”
- Stary Rynek (Old Market Square) & Town Hall — Compact medieval square with colorful tenements, pavement cafés and the low-key, photogenic town hall. It’s where the city’s everyday life happens — street performers, markets and people-watching.
- Cathedral of St. Martin and St. Nicholas (Fara) — A fine Baroque interior with ornate altars and an impressive organ; the church has been central to Bydgoszcz’s spiritual and civic history for centuries. Worth popping in for the architecture and calm atmosphere.
- Opera Nova — A striking modern cultural building right on

- Opera Nova — A striking modern cultural building right on the Brda river with regular performances and a riverside terrace offering one of the city’s best viewpoints. Even if you don’t catch a show, the building and riverside promenade are worth the visit.
- Exploseum — An atmospheric industrial museum set in the remains of a 20th-century explosives factory; exhibits link local wartime history, engineering and social stories. It’s raw, evocative and unlike your usual city museum.
- Muzeum Okręgowe im. Leona Wyczółkowskiego (District Museum) — Home to regional art, archeology and urban history with notable pieces by Leon Wyczółkowski and rotating local exhibitions. A good place to understand the city’s cultural roots beyond the riverside photos.
- Muzeum Mydła i Historii Brudu (Museum of Soap and the History of Dirt) — Quirky, hands-on and unexpectedly informative: a small museum about hygiene, everyday life and soap-making across the ages. Fun, budget-friendly and great if you travel with curious friends or kids.
- Myślęcinek Park & Bydgoszcz Zoo — One of Poland’s largest municipal parks with forest trails, lakes, bike paths, a small zoo and picnic spots. Ideal for a cheap escape from the city center — bring a picnic and rent a bike if you like.
- Ulica Gdańska (Gdańska Street) — A long boulevard of late-19th/early-20th-century townhouses and Art Nouveau details; stroll to spot carved portals, historic facades and local cafés. Perfect for an architecture-focused walk and casual café stops.
- Brda River waterfront & water tram — Lively embankments, converted granaries and seasonal boat/water-tram rides that show a different face of the city from the water. Take a short cruise at sunset for great views of Mill Island and the opera house.
