Most online blurbs sell Wielkopolska National Park as “wild nature,” but for a backpacker it’s basically Poznań’s forested backyard, crisscrossed with easy trails and weekend strollers. South of Poznań in western Poland, it’s a low-drama park: flat hikes through lakes, pines, and glacial hills, decent birdlife, and no big-animal thrills. Access by train and bus is simple, fees are low, and crowds peak on sunny Sundays. Wild camping is restricted, budget beds cluster in nearby villages, and the vibe is calm, suburban-escape rather than epic.
