- Cozia Massif’s limestone cliffs — The park’s signature feature: sheer karst faces and rocky escarpments that rise above the Olt valley. Great for dramatic photos, short scrambles and that “I’m actually above everything” feeling without trekking into the high Alps.
- Cozia Peak (the ridge panoramas) — A relatively compact summit ridge that rewards a moderate hike with sweeping views over the Olt River corridor and surrounding Carpathian foothills. Clear days give long vistas; cloudy days give moody mountain light — both worth it.
- Olt River gorge and riverside scenery — The river has cut a deep, scenic corridor through the park. Low, gentle trails along the Olt are perfect for easy walks, sunset photos, fishing spots and watching the light change on the cliffs above.

- Ancient beech forests and alpine meadows — Old-growth beech stands carpeted with spring wildflowers, plus higher meadows that bloom in summer. The contrast of shaded forest trails and open flower-rich clearings is one reason botanists and casual hikers both love Cozia.
- Wildlife spotting — Classic Carpathian fauna: brown bears, wolves, roe deer and boar live here, and the skies host raptors and woodpeckers. You won’t see them on every walk, but dawn/dusk and quieter side-trails increase your chances. Respect distances and leave no food out.
- Cozia Monastery (14th-century heritage) — A cultural gem tucked into the park’s foothills. The painted church and stone architecture feel perfectly at home against the forested slopes — an easy add-on to a nature day for a bit of history and photo contrast.
- Marked trail network and day-hike variety — Trails range from easy riverside strolls near Călimănești or Brezoi to steeper ridge hikes up to the massif. You can stitch together half-day loops or plan a full-day summit outing; maps and local tips make a big difference, so ask in town before you go.
