- Surfing & bodyboarding (day)
L’Orient is one of St Barth’s go-to spots when the swell hits — waves here get punchy and consistent. It’s not the place for beginners on big days, but watching (or joining) surfers carve the long, powerful sets is what gives this beach its raw personality. - Kiteboarding and wind-driven sports (day)
The steady trade winds make L’Orient a favorite launch point for kiteboarders and windsurfers. The wide beach and open water give plenty of room to set up and catch long rides — great if you want to see high-speed action close to shore. - Cliff-top viewpoints & short hikes (day / sunset)

A quick scramble up the rocky headlands rewards you with panoramic views of the bay and surfers below — especially pretty at golden hour. The scenery is dramatic and windswept in a way other island beaches aren’t, so bring a camera and a light jacket. - Rocky edges, tide pools & shore snorkeling (calm days only)
L’Orient’s rocky sections shelter small tide pools and pockets of reef life you won’t find on smoother sand beaches. Water can be rough, so exploration is best on calm days: hop the rocks slowly and you’ll see colorful reef fish and interesting tide-pool critters. - Moonlit walks and stargazing (night)
There’s little development right on the beach, so evenings here are quietly cinematic — surf sounds, a cool breeze, and a clear sky for stars. It’s one of the better spots on the island to wander after dark and soak in the ocean atmosphere without the crowds.
