- Mountain Wildlife — a quiet stronghold for mountain-adapted fauna: think wild sheep and ibex, foxes and plenty of raptors. Wildlife encounters are best early or late in the day and always feel properly wild here.
- Gorges, Ravines & Seasonal Streams — narrow gorges with cool shade and trickling streams fed by snowmelt. These make short, rewarding hikes and offer contrast to the surrounding arid plains — bring sturdy shoes for rocky riverbeds.
