- Primeval beech forests (UNESCO-listed fragments) — Pockets of untouched, old-growth beech that feel like stepping back in time: huge, smooth-beech trunks, dense understory and a quietness that only centuries-old forest can deliver. These stands are part of the Primeval Beech Forests network and are the park’s signature natural asset.
- Uzh River valley and wooded gorges — The Uzh and its tributaries carve narrow, scenic valleys with mossy banks and small cascades. Great for short riverside walks and photography; the contrast of dark water and bright beech canopy is surprisingly dramatic.

- Polonyny (mountain meadows) and wildflower displays — In summer the grassy uplands burst with color and scent. These traditionally grazed meadows host orchids, gentians and lots of pollinators — good for relaxed, low-effort hikes and nature watching.
- Rich large-mammal and birdlife — The park supports brown bears, wolves and lynx (elusive but present), plus deer and boar. Birdlife is rich too: expect woodpeckers, raptors and forest specialists. Wildlife is best spotted quietly at dawn/dusk.
- Old-wood features and deadwood biodiversity — Fallen trunks, hollow trees and abundant fungi create habitat for rare beetles, mosses and cavity-nesting birds. If you like the tiny, weird stuff of forests, this park is a treasure trove.
- Linear hiking routes and cross-border day trips — A network of marked trails links villages, ridgelines and borderlands. Routes are ideal for multi-stage treks or easy day loops, and some trails give satisfying borderland views without heavy gear.
