Most people online sell West Wittering Beach as some wild, remote escape; in reality, it’s so car-park-and-beach-hut organized that it feels almost suburban… in a good way if you like clean loos. Sitting on the south coast of the UK in West Sussex, it’s a spotless, dune-backed stretch with big skies, decent swimming, and beginner-friendly surf when the wind cooperates, but zero real snorkel or dive interest. It’s pricier and more controlled than nearby East Wittering or Bracklesham, which feel scruffier but freer, and the parking-booking system plus limited budget eats make it mildly annoying for backpackers without wheels. Still, the chilled, family-heavy vibe and huge low-tide sand flats are a solid reward if you’re already drifting along this bit of coast and want a cleaner, calmer alternative to the chaos of Brighton’s pebbles.
