This is Playa Mansa, the calm-side beach of Punta del Este, on Uruguay’s southeast coast. For backpackers, it’s clean, safe-feeling, and easy: gentle water for swimming, almost no surf, and a long, walkable promenade. The tradeoff is crowds and a pretty polished, family-resort vibe; you’re sharing sunset with strollers and selfie sticks, not drum circles.
