Local taxi drivers and shopkeepers are often the best on-the-ground intel sources.
- Safer nearby alternatives with a similar feel — If Khost itself is inaccessible, look at validated experiences in neighboring, more documented regions (Paktia for market life and homestays; Bamyan for landscape-driven culture) to get similar cultural or landscape flavors while staying safer and better supported.
