- Raptors and rich birdlife — Mountain raptors (golden eagles, bearded vultures/lammergeiers) cruise the thermals, and the mix of habitats supports Himalayan and migratory songbirds. Good binoculars reward patience.
- Traditional Nuristani villages and terraced landscapes — Wooden houses, steep terraced fields and local farming practices are woven into the park’s slopes, giving a strong sense of place. The human landscape is as much a feature as the raw nature.
- High passes and remote trekking routes — A network of old paths and passes links valleys and ridgelines; multi-day treks deliver panoramic summits and real solitude. These routes are remote and rugged, so plan for logistics and local guidance.
