- Dobratsch Nature Park & Landskron Castle — The Dobratsch massif has accessible alpine trails, endemic plants and sweeping views over Villach and the Gail valley. Pair that with nearby Landskron Castle’s ruins and its bird-of-prey centre — you can watch eagles and vultures up close from the castle terrace.
- Obir Caves (Obir Tropfsteinhöhlen) — Hidden gem: guided tours take you through dramatic dripstone caverns carved into the Obir massif near Bad Eisenkappel. Locals treasure the eerie chambers and colorful stalactite formations; it’s an unexpectedly theatrical underground world.

Walk the terraces, imagine the oppidum’s old trade routes and visit the small museum pieces — it’s where the region’s deep past feels very tangible and local.
