- Shitalakshya River Ghats & Boatyards — The city lives on this river: crowded ghats, early-morning ferries, small boatbuilders and repair yards. It’s the best place to watch working river life up close.

- Adamjee Jute Mill area (Siddhirganj) — Once the world’s largest jute mill, the site and surrounding neighborhoods are industrial heritage: rusting infrastructure, workers’ quarters and stories of Bangladesh’s industrial past. Respect boundaries and stick to public areas.
- Narayanganj Railway Station — A compact, old-line station that reminds you of the city’s colonial-era transport links; good for people-watching and catching local short-distance trains if you want a cheap, slow trip.
- Chashara Market & Old Town Bazaar — A dense, buzzing market quarter where traders sell everything from textiles to river fish. Great for sampling street food, bargaining for fabric, and seeing daily urban life away from tourist tracts.
- Textile & Wholesale Cloth Markets — Narayanganj is a trade hub for fabrics and garments. Visiting the wholesale markets (early in the day is best) shows the city’s economic heart and is useful if you’re into textiles or bargain shopping.
- Local Mosques and Community Shrines — Scattered historic and active mosques near the river and in the old neighborhoods showcase local religious life and modest mosque architecture; peaceful to observe respectfully and often tied to community rhythms.
- Siddhirganj Industrial Waterfront — Walkable stretches along the industrial riverfront where ferries, tugs and factory piers operate. It’s gritty and interesting — an industrial landscape that tells the modern side of Narayanganj’s story.
- Municipal Park / Shahid Minar area — Small public green spaces and memorials where locals gather; useful for a relaxed break, people-watching and seeing civic life away from the markets and factories.
