- Ancient lowland rainforest — One of Africa’s most intact, old-growth rainforests: massive emergent trees, buttressed trunks and a layered canopy that feels like stepping into a living cathedral. The sheer scale and age of the forest is the park’s biggest wow factor.
- Primate watching — Korup is prime territory for drills and the rare Preuss’s red colobus, plus a cast of other monkeys. Guided hikes into quieter forest stands give the best chance to see troops moving through the trees and hear the forest come alive.
- Birdlife and forest specialists — Hundreds of species of forest birds, including shy, range-restricted specialists and dazzling understory species. Bring binoculars—early mornings along the trails are electric with song and flashes of color.
- Rivers, rapids and small waterfalls

- Rivers, rapids and small waterfalls — The Korup River and its tributaries carve scenic valleys and little cascades where you can cool off. Riverine sections are also hotspots for wildlife and offer a very different feel from the dense interior.
- Trail network and ridge hikes — A system of trails runs from the park edge into deep forest; some climb ridgelines for rare above-canopy views. Trails range from short walks to all-day treks, and local guides know the best routes for wildlife sightings.
- Insects, frogs and micro-ecosystems — The understory and leaf litter hide an absurd diversity of butterflies, beetles and amphibians. Night walks reveal frogs and other nocturnal creatures you won’t spot in daylight.
- Korup Research Station and community camps — The research station is the hub for scientific work and a good jumping-off point for guided excursions; nearby community camps offer local knowledge, cultural insight and night walks to spot nocturnal mammals.
