- The Apse Mosaic of the Virgin and Child — A sixth-century Byzantine masterpiece: a gold-backed Virgin holding the Child, flanked by bishops and saints. It’s one of the best-preserved early Christian mosaics in the Mediterranean and the hymn of the site — you’ll keep looking back at it.
- Presbytery and Choir Mosaics — Rich, colorful tesserae spread across the presbytery with symbolic animals, geometric patterns and liturgical imagery. These mosaics give real context to the apse and show how art and worship merged here centuries ago.
- The Early Christian Basilica Layout & Marble Columns — Walk the long nave and colonnaded atrium to see a mix of Western basilica plan and Byzantine detail, with reused Roman marble columns that tell a layered story of Poreč’s history.

- Baptistery and Mosaic Floor — The octagonal baptistery off the complex has an intricate mosaic floor of Christian symbols — it’s where the ritual side of the site comes alive and makes for great close-up detail photography.
- Bell Tower (Climb for the View) — A later medieval addition with a narrow stair and a payoff: sweeping views over Poreč’s red roofs, the Adriatic and the archaeological complex. The tower itself shows how the site evolved across eras.
- Bishop’s Palace & Small Museum — A compact museum of liturgical objects, inscriptions and sarcophagi that fills in the human details: bishops, relics and everyday church life across late antiquity and the Middle Ages.
- Crypt and Early Christian Remains — Descend to see tombstones, reliquaries and the quieter layers beneath the basilica. It’s atmospheric and a good reminder of continuous worship and reuse on the site.
