Westpunt is the place to rent a car for a day and still be back in time for the best swim of your trip, because the beaches here are small coves a few minutes apart. It sits at the far northwestern tip of Curaçao, about an hour from Willemstad, and that distance is exactly why it stays calm. Buses from the capital run infrequently and stop early, so experienced travelers share a rental or grab a lift rather than count on a timetable. Most people come for snorkeling off the cliffs and coves, then leave by afternoon; stay overnight and you get the quiet part. Evenings are early and low-key, with a few seaside bars and grills, and meeting other travelers happens mostly over dinner or at dive shops. Nights here are properly dark, with stars over the sea. Go for the coves at Playa Kenepa, where the water turns clear turquoise against pale limestone.
