Everyone shows up at Camp Bay expecting some wild Mediterranean cove… and then realizes it’s basically a concrete sun terrace bolted onto Gibraltar’s industrial backside. Camp Bay beach sits on the west side of the Rock, below the Europa Road area, facing the Bay of Gibraltar and the port rather than open sea. For backpackers, it’s oddly likeable: clean, compact, easy to reach by bus or on foot, with calm water that’s better for bobbing than “proper” swimming, plus a small lido vibe and occasional fish cruising past the breakwater for basic snorkel fun. The scenery is half-rock, half-shipping-lanes, so don’t expect drama, but it’s far less chaotic than Eastern Beach and less windy than Catalan Bay.
