- Long sandy sweep and shallow swimming: Elia is one of the rare long, sandy stretches on Mykonos — the sand runs for a long way and the water stays shallow for quite a distance, so you can wander out, float, or let kids splash without panic. It gives the place a relaxed, “beach all day” feel that’s different from the typical pebbly coves here.
- Active watersports hub: The beach hosts a concentrated cluster of water-sport options — paddleboards, jet-skis, and wind/wave gear — so whether you want lazy SUP laps or a faster adrenaline hit, you can get on the water quickly without hunting around the island.
- Naturist-friendly stretch and open vibe: One end of Elia is known for a tolerant naturist scene and a very mixed, friendly crowd; it’s relaxed rather than rowdy, which creates a unique “everyone’s

- Sand-underfoot tavernas & seaside dining: Small family-style tavernas sit right behind the sand, so you can eat fresh seafood with your feet practically in the sand — different from the typical cliff-top restaurants. Eating that way, watching the light change over the water, is a proper island moment.
- Beach parties, moonlit swims & stargazing: In high season the beach switches gears after dark — DJs and informal parties appear but you can always slip away to a quieter spot for a warm, moonlit swim or lie back and watch the stars. This mix of energy and easy calm is my personal favorite — nothing beats a barefoot midnight dip with the Milky Way overhead.
