- Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion — Perched on the highest cliff, the ruined Doric temple with the endless Aegean behind it is the park’s signature sight. It’s equal parts archaeology and jaw-dropping sea view, and watching the light change on the columns at dusk is unforgettable (personal favorite).
- Sheer coastal cliffs & panoramic viewpoints — Jagged limestone ramps drop straight into blue water, so every short scramble or lookout delivers dramatic vistas. Great for photography, sunrise/sunset sessions, or just standing very still and pretending you’re in a movie.

- Hidden coves and clear-water swimming spots — Scattered pebble bays and rock platforms break the coastline. Water’s clear and ideal for snorkeling; you’ll find small coves with few people if you walk a bit from the main parking areas.
- Coastal and pine-forest hiking paths — Trails run along the shore and inland through aromatic maquis and pine stands. They’re a mix of easy walks and steeper sections; pack water, a hat, and shoes with grip. Walking here feels like getting two parks in one: sea and scrubland.
- Spring wildflowers and Mediterranean vegetation — In spring the phrygana and maquis light up with thyme, sage, rockroses and orchids. It’s a short but intense floral show—bring a camera or just enjoy the scent trail.
- Birdlife and raptor watching — The cape sits on a migratory route; in season you’ll see gulls, shearwaters, and raptors like kestrels and buzzards riding the thermals. Binoculars help, but even casual birders get neat sightings.
- Offshore marine life — Look out from the cliffs for dolphins and fishing boats; closer in the coves you’ll spot small fish, octopus and colorful weeds while snorkeling. The Aegean here is surprisingly lively despite being close to Athens.
