Most people skip Borujerd in favor of Khorramabad, but Borujerd actually has the denser old bazaar core and more walkable everyday street life for a backpacker. Sitting in Lorestan province in western Iran, it’s a mid-sized, conservative-but-curious city with cheap food, cheap taxis, and almost no tourist markup. You get mosques, caravanserai fragments, parks, and a lived-in bazaar, but almost no nightlife, little English, and very few other travelers, so it feels more “real Iran” than polished-scenic.
