- Ancient Juniper Forests — One of the park’s standouts: gnarled, slow-growing junipers that form old-growth patches you don’t see everywhere in Iran. They make for eerie, beautiful forests and great shade on a hot hike; some trees are centuries old.
- Rugged Mountain Ridges and Panoramic Summits — Sharp ridgelines and compact peaks give short, rewarding climbs with wide views over the valley; great for sunrise/sunset photos and easy to stitch into day-hikes or overnight treks.

- Clear Springs and Small Cascades — Hidden springs and streamlets break up the aridity and create cool campsites; they’re lifesavers on summer hikes and nice spots to rest and refill water (treat it first).
- Wildlife Viewing — Bezoar Ibex, Urial and More — Khabr is good habitat for mountain goats (bezoar ibex) and wild sheep (urial). Predators like foxes and, very occasionally, leopards have been recorded — sightings aren’t guaranteed, but the animal tracks and herds make wildlife-watching worthwhile.
- Raptors and Birdlife — The cliffs and thermals attract eagles, vultures and other birds of prey; migratory passerines use the park’s oases in season. Bring binoculars for cliff-edge lookouts.
- Traditional Pastoral Landscapes and High Camp Spots — You’ll find shepherd trails, small seasonal settlements and classic high-camp meadows that feel remote. These areas are ideal for overnighting under stars and for experiencing a quieter side of Iranian mountain life.
