- Seasonal wetlands and birdlife — Scattered seasonal salt pans and marshy depressions attract migrant and resident birds (waders, ducks and raptors). Birdwatchers can pick up species you wouldn’t expect in a desert—best in wetter months.
- Remote 4x4 tracks and ranger-led drives — Much of the park is only accessible by high-clearance vehicle and experienced guides. The remoteness is part of the draw: long drives bring you into unspoiled pockets where wildlife is less disturbed.
- Stargazing and silent nights — Far from cities, the night sky is huge. If you camp or stay in a basic ranger post, the Milky Way and brilliant stars make the desert evenings unforgettable—perfect after a dusty day of tracking.
