- Hawraman (Uramanat) Takht — A ruined, terrace-built village perched on a narrow ridge: stone houses stacked like steps, ancient pathways and sweeping panoramas of the valley below. It’s the signature view that explains why the area became a cultural landscape on UNESCO’s list.
- Palangan Village — One of the most photogenic stepped villages in the region, with narrow alleys, small waterfalls and spring-fed gardens tucked into a steep slope. Great for wandering, candid photos and catching local life where roofs double as streets.
- Terraced Farmlands and Vernacular Landscape — Mosaic-like terraces carved into the hillsides are both practical and beautiful. In spring they’re neon-green with crops; in autumn the layers turn warm ochre. The agricultural patterns are a living, centuries-old engineering

- Shaho Range Hikes — Trails up into the Shaho massif reward you with high-alpine views, wildflower meadows and simple shepherd camps. Routes range from steep day-hikes to harder multi-day treks—good boots and a map are a must.
- Deep Gorges and River Valleys — Narrow, dramatic canyons cut by seasonal streams carve the landscape into dramatic cliffs, shady riverine pockets and small waterfalls. Excellent spots for cooling off, photography and quiet breaks away from the villages.
- Wildlife and Birds of Prey — Keep an eye out for wild goats/ibex on rocky ledges, foxes and a healthy array of raptors (eagles and hawks patrol the thermals). Leopard sightings are very rare in the wider Zagros, but the area supports a diverse mountain fauna.
- Local Trails Between Villages — Short linking paths and mule tracks connect the hamlets—perfect for easy day-walks that mix nature and culture. You’ll pass walnut groves, terraced orchards and tea breaks in tiny teahouses run by local families.
