- Karst cliffs and glacial cirques — Sharp limestone outcrops, steep faces and small high-altitude bowls that collect snowmelt. These rock features make for dramatic scenery and sheltered spots where small ponds or streams form.
- Wildlife and birds of prey — Keep an eye out for chamois and roe deer, and signs of large carnivores in the area; raptors like eagles and buzzards patrol the thermals. It’s a good place for quiet wildlife watching if you move slow and early.
- Transboundary routes to Montenegro — Trails that cross toward neighboring Montenegro, giving you the feel of a real mountain trek and options to plan point-to-point hikes. Useful for backpackers who want a border-crossing day or overnight adventure.
- Sunsets, stars and low-light pollution nights — Few villages and little light mean excellent evening skies. After a day on the trail you can get brilliant sunsets from the ridges and proper starfields for bivvying or a hut night.
