What gets overlooked is the setting: it sits among the offices, embassies and ministries of the capital, so you can slot it between other sights on foot. Sacred Heart Cathedral is in Monrovia, Liberia’s capital, on the Mamba Point side of the peninsula. Entry costs nothing, crowds only gather at services, and the rest of the week it is quiet. Do not expect polished heritage tourism, since the plaster is weathered and the generator hum is part of the soundtrack.   • Dry Season (November to April): Roads are passable and Mass is easy to reach on foot. Days run 27 to 33°C (81 to 91°F), with dust-heavy harmattan haze from December to February. Mornings are the coolest time to walk around the Monrovia grounds.
  • Early Rains (May to June): Afternoon downpours build and humidity climbs. Temperatures hold at 24 to 30°C (75 to 86°F), and mud slows moto-taxi rides.
