- Seabird colonies — Thousands of birds cram the cliffs and flat spots: boobies, pelicans, terns and more. It’s noisy, messy and unforgettable — the island is basically a seabird city, so bring binoculars and a nose that can handle the wildlife charm.
- Frigatebird courtship displays — Males puff up those red throat sacs and glide overhead. It’s theatrical, loud and one of the best live-action bird shows you’ll see anywhere — my personal favorite for sheer spectacle and photo moments.
- Volcanic cliffs and lava formations — Jagged black rock, natural ledges and wind-sculpted shapes give the island a raw, primeval feel. Great for dramatic photos and to see how the sea carves the coastline.
- Snorkeling and nearshore marine life — Clear pockets of water around the reef and rocks host colorful reef

- Snorkeling and nearshore marine life — Clear pockets of water around the reef and rocks host colorful reef fish, ray shadows and the occasional turtle. Short boat rides put you in easy snorkel spots; water clarity can change, so go early.
- Short hikes to viewpoints (miradores) — Trails are short but steep in places; the payoff is sweeping views of the Pacific and the island’s nesting grounds. Good for quick exercise and fantastic panorama shots.
- Sandy coves and landing bay — Small beaches where boats put you ashore: simple, peaceful spots to rest, swim or start a snorkel. They’re tiny but lovely after a morning of bird-watching or hiking.
